mountain walking options

There is an official guide's office in the parking in Imlil. You may also be approached by those claiming to be guides. We have heard mixed reports about using such "unofficial" guides. The Walks we offer are all lead by qualified and insured guides, who have worked with us for many years. We are confident that they will have your safety as their prime concern, and that they will make your walks enjoyable and informative. All walks start from Douar Samra at an altitude of 1800m. Our guides, Hassan, Ibrahim and Mohammed will be able to explain the routes and points of interest on all the walks.

Shrine of Sidi Chamarouch

From Douar Samra you follow Berber mule tracks to Aremd, the highest village in the Ait Mizane, before climbing towards the holy shrine of Sidi Chamarouch.  Along the way you will see local village people going about their lives, much as they have done for centuries.  The walk to the shrine takes 2.5 hours. Your guide will be able to tell you the fascinating history of the shrine once you arrive. Nearby are many places for a picnic either by the river, or with panoramic views of the mountains and the valley below.  The return walk to Douar Samra takes 2 hours.
